A good lender without a good loan officer is useless

Should I stop paying my HOA dues if I do a short sale?

East valley Team memberDean Ouellette talks how my past videos about using a great lender may not be complete.

Browse through my videos on East Valley Team and on my youtube channel and you are going to hear me talk a lot about making sure you use a good lender. Make sure your lender has in house underwriting, in house doc drawing and can get loans closed quickly.

Now I am realizing my advice may not have been complete. I have one of those good lenders Shane Hollenback who was with a good company. He recently left to go to Academy Mortgage, another real good company. What I found out is a good company does not necessarily mean a good experience.

After Shane left his past company, we still had a deal in the works which was taken over by another loan officer at the same company I had always praised. Well what usually takes a couple weeks is now going onto five weeks and I have not been impressed by what the company is doing to get the deal done.

Recently I identified the problems and I thought we were working on it. Shane was nice enough to try and stay in the loop even though he was no longer with the former company and do what he could to move it along. Unfortunately that was not enough being with a new company and having no control over the file.

The worst part is I always had great communications with Shane while he was at his former company, but the new people I am dealing with don’t seem to like to return phone calls or emails unless you pester them. The thing is I would not have to pester them if they just answered their calls or emails the first time I attempted to contact them.

So lesson learned, a good company is important, a good company with a stellar loan officers is everything though. One without the other is like ice cream without flavor. What good is it. Make sure you use East Valley lenders that give you both.

  1. While we’re in the A good lender without a good loan officer is useless | Phoenix's East Valley Real Estate Team zone, I speak form personal experience. Hurricane Katrina wiped out my real estate business and I had to do my own loan modifications. I spent over 2 years trying to get insurance claims paid on damaged properties after hiring several attorneys, public adjusters, and engineers.
